I put in some crazy long days out in the Nevada desert to capture some of these moments. I was second unit and I zig zagged all over the state with my shot list, a 5D mark III, and a GoPro Hero 3. I also got to check off several items from my bucket list in the process, including riding in a hot air balloon, rafting in the Colorado River and zip lining while filming. It was hard work but I love my job. The song is by the Killers.
Degree Do More Spots
It’s always a pleasure to see the end results of your work. I was camera operator on these spots for Degree deodorant directed by the Malloys with director of photography Giles Dunning. We shot handheld on 2 RED Epics with Nikon glass and employed a Bolex 16mm film camera for some shots.
Carmelo Anthony shot in New York City
Kevin Durant shot in Oklahoma City
Alex Morgan shot in Los Angeles
Taylor Swift Sony Commercial
A couple of months ago I got a call to travel to Nashville to shoot a Sony commercial directed by the Malloys. I didn’t get any more info, just a plane ticket. When I got there I found out we were shooting Taylor Swift in the historic Ryman Auditorium. Continue reading “Taylor Swift Sony Commercial”
Taco Bell: Operation Alaska
I can finally say that I’ve been to all 50 U.S. States now. I got a call from Brendan Malloy a little over a week ago to camera operate on an interesting job in Alaska that him and his brother Emmett were directing for Taco Bell. I just had to keep it under wraps until now. Continue reading “Taco Bell: Operation Alaska”
Best Buy: Future Innovators
Here is the latest commercial production I worked on as a camera operator. The Malloys directed, Adam Kimmel was our DP, Crispin Porter + Bogusky was the agency and HSI was the production company. One of my favorite songs by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros was used as the music for the TV spot.
I was happy to get the call for this job. We shot primarily on 2 RED Epics but they sent me off on my own with my Canon 5D at times to capture b-roll at some other locations and and that footage seems to have cut in just fine with the RED footage. We shot it in a documentary style, mostly handheld and I set up a few time lapse shots and did a few slider moves. Here is the 30 second spot.
MLB Spots with the Malloys
I recently got the opportunity to work with the Malloy brothers again under director of photography Giles Dunning as a camera operator on a series of spots for Major League Baseball. We shot on location at the Spring training facilities around Orlando, Florida and Phoenix, Arizona for one week. Continue reading “MLB Spots with the Malloys”
