I captured these images today on my Canon 5D mark II with a cheap ProOptic 14mm lens at f/8 or f/11 doing 20-30 second exposures. The pyrotechnics are from steel wool on fire. The location is a sketchy secret underground tunnel near Temescal Canyon.

I just got back from another week in New York City where I shot a commercial for one day with Carmelo Anthony and the Malloys for Degree deodorant but that isn’t online just yet. I hung around for a few days after we wrapped to shoot photos and visit friends. I had never been to the top of the Empire State building before and that seemed like a good place to take my 14mm f/2.8 lens. It costs $25 to go to the 86th floor and it was bitterly cold and windy up there but it was worth checking out. Check out some of the photos. These are all 2 stop, 3 exposure images shot on my 5D mark II which were tone mapped in HDR Efex Pro.

I happened to run into Chef Casey Lane from the Tasting Kitchen restaurant yesterday and he was anxious to get some new photos of a few dishes, so this afternoon I did a little photo session for them. The best part was getting to eat some of the food after we got the shots. The burrata and brocolini salad was amazing… oh and I think the shots turned out pretty well too.
